A Great Leader

There are a bazillion opinions about what constitutes a great leader, and a gajillion strategies on how to lead. In my opinion, good leadership is best summarized by Lao Tzu: "A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves."  A leader empowers; a leader does not control. A leader provides vision; a leader DOES NOT get mired down in minutiae. If you're fighting the same battle as your troops then who is leading the war. If you are of the opinion that a leader can lead when on the day-to-day front-line with with the corps, then perhaps this will change your mind.
